My business combines two major services for expectant parents, childbirth classes and labor support or "doula" services. I have received training in the Bradley Method® of Childbirth to teach classes; and training through Doulas of North America (DONA)® in labor support. Recently I have added a third component, child passenger safety. As a certified Child Passenger Safety Technician I can assist parents in correctly protecting their children as they ride in motor vehicles.

Eleven studies have been conducted where women were randomly assigned to have a doula or not have a doula. Some of the benefits these studies have shown is that the presence of a doula:

• Shortens labor
• Reduces complications
• Cuts the C-section rate in half
• Increases parental satisfaction with childbirth
• Increases breast feeding rates
• Decreases infant admissions to special care (NICU) nurseries
